The sponsored children are contributing to the wider community of street children we support who are not yet in school. In the school holidays they pass on what they learn, teaching them to read and write, to learn basic Maths and computer skills and introduce them to art.
It is part of African culture that individuals use any education they receive for the benefit of the rest of their family. Our sponsored children use their education and new found skills to support their ‘family’ – the other children in their community. They help their friends to learn to read or to develop basic numeracy skills.
Your relationship with your sponsored child
We encourage sponsors to exchange two letters a year with sponsored children and we will manage this process for you. We will also provide you with updates on the child’s progress and academic achievements as we get the reports from the school.
Sponsors can also arrange to visit the children, subject to advance notification to us. Uganda is a beautiful and exciting country with much to see, and a visit to meet your child is a highly rewarding experience.
